BA Staff Conference 2019 – Lisbon Posted at: July 2, 2019 Posted in: News This year, the Barlow Andrews and Beech Business Services team spent the weekend in Portugal’s capital, Lisbon for the staff conference. The theme of the conference was ‘Who? What? Why? How?’ led by Philip Riding. In groups over Friday and Saturday, we evaluated our current and prospective client base along with the services we offer and potential improvements. We also had a refresher on our money laundering procedures, along with our data protection success since GDPR was introduced in May 2018. During the time spent away from the conference sessions, we took part in a walking tour of the city, led by Salma, a local lady, who showed us many historic sights, such as Lisbon Cathedral and also Praca do Comercio, which had been reconstructed in the 1700s after the earthquake had destroyed the area. In the evenings, we reconvened to sample the local cuisine and lively nightlife of the city. On Saturday night, we enjoyed ‘Lisbon Under the Stars’, a meaningful light show held at the Carmo Ruins, which celebrated the history and cultural heritage Lisbon, thoroughly enjoyed by many of the team. All that was then left on Sunday morning were speedy taxi journeys back to Lisbon airport, to return home and put into practise all that we had discussed in our sessions over the weekend. A great time was had by all!
